Two SLCC members, Channa Weerapperuma and Kusal Eriagama, were part of the New Zealand Over 60s Cricket Team crowned joint champions at the IMC Over 60s World Cup in Canada.
Huge congratulations to the
New Zealand Over 60s Cricket Team, who have been crowned joint champions at the IMC Over 60s World Cup in Mississauga, Canada. The tournament was hosted by the Council of Canada Masters Cricket in August 2026.
For everyone at SLCC, this result is extra special. Two of our own members, Channa Weerapperuma and Kusal Eriagama, represented New Zealand at the tournament and are now joint world champions.
Channa and Kusal have both contributed so much to our club, and it is wonderful to see their passion for cricket shine on the international stage. They have done themselves and our club proud.
The whole SLCC family is incredibly proud of you both. Congratulations, Channa and Kusal, and well done to the entire New Zealand Over 60s squad on a fantastic achievement!
If you see Channa or Kusal around the club, be sure to pass on your congratulations.
